English Silver Ian Pickford Saturday 20 February 2016

10.00am - 3.30pm

Booking starts 10th December 2015

Ian Pickford entered the antiques silver trade straight from school. Six years after Ian was in the antiques silver trade, he became lecturer for the University of London and the University of Surrey, for NADFAS (National Association of Decorative and Fine Art Societies) and for the National Trust.

His writings include the now-standard reference book on silver flatware and he is the Editor of Jackson’s Silver and Gold Marks. In 1981, he was made a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and a Freeman of the City of London.

Since joining the Roadshow in 1985, the most memorable collection of silver Ian has seen is the now famous Crawley Silver Collection. It included some incredibly rare items, such as an early wine taster and stirrup cups. If Ian could select a dream item to see at a Roadshow, it would be an Elizabethan salt pot. If one turned up it could be worth as much as £150,000!
